EDIC Part II Premium Preparation for Clinical Reasoning, Interpretation & OSCE Performance

What I liked most was how the three books fit together. Volume 1 develops the clinical reasoning, Volume 2 makes the imaging and data stations much more systematic, and Volume 3 pushes the answers to a more senior level. If I were choosing again, I would take the complete package rather than trying to build preparation from separate resources.

The color coding is actually useful rather than cosmetic. I could quickly distinguish investigations, management steps, danger points and facts worth remembering when revising after work. The full set also feels much more coherent because the clinical cases and CBS interpretation reinforce each other instead of feeling like unrelated topics.

Volume 2 was initially the one I wanted most because curves and imaging were my weaker areas, but after going through the package I understood why the other volumes matter. The cases teach you how to organise the answer, while the advanced volume improves prioritisation and reassessment. Very polished and genuinely exam-oriented.

These books helped me move away from giving long ICU textbook answers. The repeated focus on what is dangerous now, what I would do first and how I would reassess makes the material feel much closer to EDIC thinking. I especially liked having all three volumes because each one trains a different part of the examination.

The complete package is very well organised for someone preparing alongside ICU shifts. Important points stand out immediately, and the tables, highlighted management steps and model-answer style sections make revision efficient without making the clinical reasoning superficial. Volume 1 is excellent, but the package becomes much stronger once Volume 2 and the advanced material are added.

I found the structure surprisingly easy to revise from. Instead of pages of undifferentiated information, there is a clear distinction between findings, interpretation, immediate action, pitfalls and reassessment. For Part II preparation I would definitely prefer the full package because it covers the different ways the exam tests the same underlying critical-care knowledge.

The strongest part for me is the emphasis on second-order reasoning. It is not only “name the diagnosis”; the books keep asking what changes management, what dangerous alternative remains and what you do if the expected response does not occur. That style is particularly useful for EDIC II. The complete set feels far more useful than revising one format alone.

Volume 1 is probably my favourite because the clinical scenarios are presented in a very practical way, but I would still recommend studying it as part of the three-volume set. Volume 2 forces you to interpret rather than pattern-match, while Volume 3 makes the oral reasoning more disciplined. The formatting also makes repeated revision much easier.

This is one of the better organised EDIC resources I have used for structured revision. The color highlights are consistent, important management points are easy to return to, and the material constantly connects clinical knowledge with the way an answer should be delivered. I found the complete package particularly useful because there are no obvious gaps between CCS and CBS preparation.

I mainly needed help with imaging, ECG and ventilator curves, so Volume 2 stood out immediately. The describe → interpret → act approach made those stations much less random for me. After using it, I added the other volumes because the same structured reasoning carries into the clinical cases, and together they make a much more complete revision system.

What impressed me was the amount of clinical reasoning built around the high-yield facts. Important thresholds and management principles are there, but they are usually placed inside a decision or evolving scenario rather than presented as isolated memorisation. I would choose the full package, particularly for the final phase of preparation when linking knowledge to exam performance becomes important.

The advanced volume was particularly useful for refining how I would speak through a difficult case: immediate threat first, then the mechanism, action, target and reassessment. It feels more mature than simply learning lists. Combined with the clinical and interpretation volumes, the package gives a very balanced approach to Part II preparation.

I appreciate that the books are visually structured without becoming distracting. The highlighted danger points, preferred management, exam traps and concise tables make it easy to revisit difficult subjects quickly. The three volumes also complement each other naturally, so buying the package makes more sense to me than repeatedly adding individual resources later.

The material feels written for an intensivist sitting an exam rather than for someone reading a general critical-care textbook. There is a strong focus on prioritisation, defensible decisions and what the examiner actually needs to hear. I found that consistency across all three volumes especially valuable; switching between CCS, data interpretation and advanced scenarios feels seamless.

I started by looking at one volume, but the complete set is where the real value is. Clinical cases, imaging and biochemical interpretation, waveforms, advanced scenarios and structured response techniques all follow the same logic. It makes revision feel connected rather than fragmented, and the updated, color-coded presentation is very comfortable for repeated study.
